US involvement in Somalia in the 1990's
The horror begins:
On numerous occasions have the US been know for helping when human life is a stake no matter where the place may be. At first Somalians that were dying of starvation were praying for someone to come and help, so we answered their plea. It is very hot there year round, so we can infer that the farming is not one of there geographical resources. From that they got us into missions we weren't particularly there for, like getting involved with with like there struggles to build there nation like they wanted it to be. Many people where shocked and frightened to wake up one day in October of 1993, they found out how US soldiers had been viciously killed or wounded fighting in the capital city called Mogadishu.(history.army)
The army now was mostly there for helping the people who were in trouble or needed help, but by December of 1992 they were fully in there mission called ''Restore Hope''( the name for the operation of coming over to Somalia to help the people) . They were getting dragged into missions that were not even close to what they intended. In the spring of the following year the crisis the US first came over to solve had seemed to been solved, so the US Task Force turned over the mission the the United Nations. The US only left behind one of there logistical forces to help. The US forces were very surprised after there ''mission accomplished'', the US was startled at the fact that Somalians dragged the dead bodies of US soldiers through the street cheering. To think that these people we saved from starvation are repaying us like this, it just does not make any sense. The US made desperate sacrifices to try and help these people suffering from such a terrible thing, it shows the courage our soldiers had to keep when helping these people.(history.army)
