The Crisis:
The Actual conflict began in the spring of 2003, when revolutionary movements ( the Sudan Liberation Movement and Justice Equality Movement) started attacks against government military installations to fight against the historic political and economic being ignored in Darfur. The Sudanese government engaged in tense negotiations with the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army to end the three decades of civil war between South and North Sudan, they responded swiftly and viciously to end the act of rebellions. Though coordinated military raids with government armed militia, the Janjaweed. The Sudanese military targeted specifically ethnic groups who rebels received a lot of their support. Many civilians were killed, the tolls of villages destroyed reached 400 and millions of people were force to flee there beloved homes. With these immense deaths a humanitarian crisis was sparked. The death was increasing by the day, President Bush had declared a genocide has started. In 2006 in order to save the country of Sudan, the Sudan government signed a peace treaty with one of the rebel movements. But the Sudanese government continued to fight with the other two rebel movements. On top of the violence between the movements and the government, movements started fighting with each other making the crisis even more complex and the killing even more severe. (savedarfur)
The United Nations-Africa Union peacekeeping force remains still to this day in Darfur trying to regulate and help the people suffering from the conflict spiritually and physically. Today the fighting continues between the movements and the governments. Troubles other than that have also started in Darfur, bandits have been stealing medical and necessary supplies. The Sudanese government is being most blamed for the outbreak in violence. They are the ones killing innocent men, women and children. The government has been very stubborn, they continue to keep out peacekeeping forces and will not even try to agree with the movement groups. The stubbornness has taken a great toll on Darfur, it has affected the lives of many people. So, until the government starts to try to achieve peace, Darfur will never be able to dig there selves out of this very deep hole. (savedarfur)
